Containment Policy
Above, it shows how each side during the war feels. The US is feeling attacked by the USSR, and vise-versa.
Containment- designed to stop the spread of communism.
Containment- designed to stop the spread of communism.
Above, the picture is demonstrating that both sides are just "bickering" and going back and forth a little bit. But, if one country steps out of line big time, then both sides are ready and armed with new bombs. Neither side is afraid to use their bombs either.
The Truman Doctrine- This plan was very successful. In March of 1947, Truman thought of a plan that would help the US in the eyes of the world. This would also help other countries. This Doctrine stated that the US would fund any nation resisting communism. Congress gave $400 million to Greece and Turkey to help fight Communism- IT WORKED.
The Marshall Plan- The Marshall Plan was a financial plan also for the containment policy. He proposed giving economic aid to all European nations to help with their recovery. This was very successful for the US because if the US gives a country money, then that puts us at a good position with them. They are more likely to side with us in a time of need then the USSR. Also, with the money we provide them, we are more likely to make money. Because we are the most powerful country in the world at this time, any nation would be smart to buy from us.
