Berlin Blockade
The Berlin Blockade was about a year long event that was a direct result of the splitting of Germany. The splitting of Germany was a direct result of the Yalta Conference.
When Germany split into two, East and West Germany, East Germany was governed by the Soviets. This resulted in low food and goods supply.
Above, this is one of the crowds waiting for the Allied forces to come and drop supplies down to the civilians. The US would drop everything from food, water, supplies, to cars, medicine, and Christmas presents.
By the end of the one year of doing this, around 5,000 tons were dropped into East Germany. Also, this looked incredible embarrassing to the Soviets because they were really holding the blockade for no reason, so they looked like the "bad guys" in the situation. This was a United States victory in the eyes of the world.
